Defence CNC Machining
Defence manufacturing requires precision, reliability and complete confidence in the finished component. Parts may need to withstand harsh environments, vibration, impact, repeated loading or integration into complex military systems.
WEC Machining provides defence CNC machining and precision engineering services for customers requiring dependable UK subcontract manufacturing support. Our machining capability is suited to small precision components, larger machined parts, heavy-duty assemblies and specialist materials used across defence and security applications.
We work to customer drawings and specifications, supporting projects where quality, consistency, confidentiality and delivery performance are essential.
Defence Components and Projects We Support
WEC Machining supports defence sector customers with precision machined components for military equipment, specialist assemblies, protected systems and engineered structures.
Our ability to combine CNC machining with wider fabrication, profiling (laser/waterjet/plasma cutting and tube cutting), finishing and assembly services gives defence customers a more complete manufacturing solution from a single UK-based engineering group.
Typical defence machining work includes:
- Defence brackets and mounting components
- High-strength steel parts
- Aluminium defence components
- Titanium machined parts
- Armoured vehicle support components
- Specialist housings and covers
- Precision shafts, pins and bushes
- Machined plates and structural components
- Mill-turn defence components
- Prototype defence parts
- Batch-machined military components
- Components for fabricated defence assemblies
- Ground support equipment components
- Heavy-duty machined fabrications
Our Customers
New 60,000 sq. ft. Heavy Machining and Fabrication Facility
Our new 60,000 sq. ft. heavy machining and nuclear fabrication facility strengthens our ability to support large, complex and heavy-duty engineering projects.
The facility adds to WEC’s existing CNC machining, profiling (laser/waterjet/plasma cutting and tube cutting), fabrication and finishing capability, giving defence customers access to a broader manufacturing platform for complex projects.
Quality-Assured Defence Machining
Defence components must be manufactured with accuracy, consistency and strong process control. WEC Machining supports customers through controlled CNC programming, material-aware machining, dimensional inspection and careful review of customer specifications. For defence projects, quality must be built into every stage of production. WEC Machining provides the process control, engineering experience and quality focus required for demanding defence work.
Defence Materials and Grades We Machine
Defence components are often produced from materials selected for strength, weight reduction, impact resistance, corrosion resistance or long-term durability. Typical defence materials include:
EN24T, EN19T, EN8, S355, S690, Strenx and other engineering steels for structural, load-bearing and heavy-duty components.
Hardox, specialist armour plate and abrasion-resistant grades for protected structures, vehicle-related parts and wear-resistant components.
6082, 6061, 7075 and 2014 aluminium for lightweight defence components, housings, brackets, panels and equipment parts.
304, 316, 17-4PH and other stainless grades for corrosion-resistant defence components.
Aluminium, bronze and other non-ferrous materials for selected nuclear tooling, fixtures, housings and support components.
PEEK, acetal, nylon and PTFE for insulators, spacers, bushes, wear parts and lightweight technical components.
End-to-End Manufacturing Solutions and Full Project Support
Defence projects may require more than machined components. Through wider WEC Group services, customers can access fabrication, profiling (laser/waterjet/plasma cutting and tube cutting), welding, finishing, assembly and on-site installation support where required.
This can support:
- Machined and fabricated defence assemblies
- Installation-ready components
- Large fabricated structures
- Ground support equipment
- Specialist engineering projects
- Multi-process manufacturing under one group
By combining machining, fabrication and project support, WEC helps defence customers reduce supplier complexity and keep projects moving efficiently.
