Apprenticeships in CNC Machining (Mechanical Engineering)

We provide CNC Machining (Mechanical Engineering) Apprenticeships as part of WEC Group's Award-Winning Training Academy.

Our five-year Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships provide individuals in Lancashire with an opportunity to gain the relevant skills to carve out a successful career in engineering, whilst also producing the highly-skilled workers WEC Group needs to fuel its ongoing expansion.

Apprentices are based at our state-of-the-art facility in Blackburn, where they learn how to programme and operate industry leading CNC machining centres, conventional lathes and milling machines.

Working on a Level 3 Mechnical Manufacturing Engineering Trailblazer, students spend four days on the shop floor and one day at Themis College, Burnley to gain important academic knowledge which is also required to become a successful engineer.

WEC Group Training Academy has been recognised multiple times in the Centrica Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, which recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices and showcases the breadth of employers who now offer apprenticeships.

The Academy has also won a range of industry awards, including the BAE Systems Award for Large Employer of the Year in the Liverpool, Cumbria and Lancashire region finals.

As well as providing local people with fantastic career opportunities and a guaranteed job upon completion, we also run an annual Apprentice of the Year Awards event where apprentices from across the company are awarded based on their commitment, academic achievement, machining excellence and more.
