Precision Engineering Company

Established in 1942, Hi-Spec CNC is a leading precision engineering company which manufactures precision machined components, light fabrications, and assemblies to customer specifications.

Acquired by WEC Group in 2005, Hi-Spec CNC benefits from over 65 years’ experience satisfying the needs of market leaders in a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, medical, motorsport, defence/security, industrial machinery and more. Following substantial investments in state-of-the-art CNC machinery, we are able to offer multi-axis subcontract machining supplying customers across the UK and Europe. Our equipment and facilities include:

  • Precision CNC Turning
    • Large CNC Turning (up to 3.8m length)
      • Vertical CNC Milling
        • Horizontal CNC Milling (up to 3m length)
          • Sliding Head Turning
            • Light Fabrication
              • TIG & MIG Welding
                • Assembly and Fitting
                  • Finishing

                  • We also offer a wide range of more conventional machining and finishing services including drilling, tapping, surface grinding, forming, brazing, dressing, polishing, shot blasting, powder coating and wet painting. As part of the WEC Group, Hi-Spec can also offer AS9100 accredited laser cutting and profiling services of material up to 40mm thick, coded welding, robotic welding and large fabrication.

Continuous investments in the latest technology provides customers with a CNC Milling capability up to 11.5 metres in length, together with CNC horizontal pallet loaders for cost-effective batch manufacturing. CNC lathes with both driven tooling and sub-spindle options provide turning capacity up to 3.8 metres in length, 950mm diameter. Complemented by a CAD/CAM system to minimize programming and downtime, the shop floor can provide a rapid response to customer's requirements.

In addition to machined components, the division also produces sheet detail components and fabricated assemblies using a range of forming and welding techniques. Using profiles produced by sister company WEC Laser, materials include mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.

Complementing all aspects of component and sub-assembly manufacture, Hi-Spec CNC has a comprehensive assembly facility providing mechanical, electromechanical and hydromechanical assemblies. These range from simple hinge assemblies through to PLC controlled hydraulically actuated patient lifts for front-line ambulances.
