WEC Machining invests in second Citizen Miyano ABX64!
WEC Group are extremely pleased to announce that our second Citizen Miyano ABX64 Multi Spindle / Multi Axis Sliding Head Lathe is now fully up and running following heavy investments at our purpose built Machining facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. With a 64mm diameter x 3m bar feed, this new investment allows us to produce high volumes of complex machined parts in a short space of time.
Working in tandem with our other Miyano ABX64 and two other Citizen lathes, the new machine will greatly improve our component delivery lead time and enable us to work to the most demanding tolerance requirements presented by our aerospace customers.
The investment supports the Group's AS 9100 Rev C certification for machining as we strive to continue building our order book in the aviation, space and defence industries.
Steve Fitzpatrick, General Manager of WEC Machining said: "Our second Citizen Miyano ABX64 will enable us to remain competitive within the aerospace industry on orders for close tolerance components and a number of our key customers will benefit directly from this addition”
“Despite challenging market conditions brought about by the recent pandemic, we remained open for business to support key industries and we are proud to have manufactured 8000 precision machined parts for ventilators on our existing Citizen Miyano machine, contributing to the national effort to defeat the virus.”
WEC Group has invested heavily in its CNC machining and laser cutting operations over the past 12 months as part of its ongoing expansion plan. This includes investments in three state-of-the-art 10kw Fibre Laser Machines at our Laser Engineering site in Darwen, increasing our cutting capacity by 30%.
